You don't need to use thumb.php you can use the thumbnails that NGG produces:

echo $image->thumbnailURL

Sorry, I can't post an entire nextgen gallery integration..that wasn't my point here. I was just showing how if you have nextgen setup and know how to use http://nextgen-gallery.com/... then you can easily add gallerific as a plugin..it wasn't meant to be a start to finish example of doing a nextgen integration to a wordpress.

Yea I seen Aarons gallery, Awesome. Why can't there just be a simple gallery that looks good on the huge Wordpress plug-in database. Looks like I'm back to square one. thanks for your help anyway, much appreciated.

No worries, as I said, I didn't use the thumbnails, I customized this to use the numbers in place of the thumbnails as above so your mileage may vary...that said gallerific uses the combo of:

<div id="slideshow" class="slideshow"></div>
and
imageContainerSel: '#slideshow',

to tell it where to display the slideshow images. Make sure you double check your gallery settings as well...that is in a post around here somewhere :)

Close to giving up on this, just thought i would give it one last chance before I find an alternative.

The thumbnails appear to be a broken link - how does the Gallereffic code know where to look for thumbnails?

also same situation as Heather with the larger image. again same answer how does the code know where to look for said images?

You might double check your gallery settings under gallery->options->gallery and make sure you have:

Deactivate gallery page link: checked
Add hidden images: checked
Enable AJAX pagination: checked

I did triple check and all is working fine from the nextgen plugin POV
(if I remove my template=__ reference in post all is fine, but still not galleriffic, just nextgen)
I was having pathing problems as I was using a child thematic theme, but think I have that nailed now. So as best I can figure I still need to make a more robust template.php file that includes ---Initialize Advanced Galleriffic Gallery--- The part that escapes my limited knowledge is how to handle the php calls in the other divs
such as the in the code in galleriffic-3.html

Hmm..not sure there but you should read the rest of the comments and re-read the nextgen instructions because it sounds like you don't have all of your values set for the image gallery in order to make it display properly...this just shows how to use this with the templates and gallerific ...I don't go into how to actually setup the gallery all that much...reread all the instructions and these sites to make sure you have the gallery itself setup correctly, you should at a minimum be able to setup the gallery alone (without gallerific) before you set this up:

Thanks so much for all your detailed help
So I have the thumbs now and have pathed propery to gallerific.css
But I still don't see the large images displayed as per gallerific on same page
At moment they are properly linked if I click on thumbnail, but appear on a new page with jpg alone
Do I need to add other classes on my template page as well? Or perhaps I am stil having pathing problems?

Ok this is my issue now... ^^^

Image not being loaded into the page. you just get the loading animation and then nothing.

I have now removed the thimthumb from the code:
now looks like this:

when I click on the links it now brings me to a 404 error page. hmm one step forward two steps back.

bizare in the title it says the name of the picture <<picture not="" found?="" your="" thoughts...="" i="" could="" just="" give="" up="" on="" this="" but="" i="" really="" like="" it="" and="" want="" it...="" not="" fair="" :(="" ha="">

You don't have to use timthumb, I should probably remove that from the code above. I just use it for image scaling. If you don't have it installed the above code will not work out of the box.

I sorted out the issue with it not displaying the correct number of images. I'm just getting the NOT FOUND message in reference to the timthumb although it is exactly where it states it is?

Ok that kind of works (well a little more than it did before, ha) I am getting 5 numbers on the left hand side of which I am assuming they are supposed to be images, although the there are only 3 images in that particular gallery?

When you click on a link it says:

Not Found

The requested URL thumb.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have included a thumb.php in the location it points to.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what this means? do you mean i.e

style been the name of the template you created inserted into a page or post? Im probably well off here ha.

I think you just need to replace the numbers (which I have above):
<li>

With something like:
<li>
<img src="<?php" echo="" $image-="">thumbnail; ?></img>

I'm not sure if $image->thumbnail exists (I can't go look right now) but you could print out the contents of the $image object ... print_r($image) to see what the thumbnails are called...
